About

The Institute for Quantum Information and Matter (IQIM) at Caltech is a Physics Frontiers Center supported by the National Science Foundation and the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation. IQIM researchers study physical systems in which the weirdness of the quantum world becomes manifest on macroscopic scales. Our research programs span quantum information science, quantum many-body physics, quantum optics, and the quantum mechanics of mechanical systems; our faculty are drawn from Caltech's departments of physics, applied physics, and computer science. IQIM also conducts outreach programs to acquaint high school students and the general public with the wonders of the quantum world.

Logo & Acknowledgements

In papers, please acknowledge IQIM using our full name Institute for Quantum Information and Matter

The acknowledgement can vary based on whether IQIM offers full or partial support, an example acknowledgement is:

  • "We acknowledge funding provided by the Institute for Quantum Information and Matter, an NSF Physics Frontiers Center with support of the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation."
  • If you have additional funding, from other sources - it would be appropriate to list those along with IQIM. "We acknowledge funding provided by the Institute for Quantum Information and Matter, an NSF Physics Frontiers Center with support of the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, by NSF Grant #PHYxxxxxx, and by NSF Grant #PHYxxxxx."

Please be sure that you are crediting a Physics Frontiers (both end in "s") Center
